THE HUMBOLDT HUNT

01 BACKGROUND AND CONTEXT
The Humboldt Forum is a museum in Berlin that fosters a technology driven hands-on exploration of history, art, and culture in Europe. They faced a problem keeping their younger visitors engaged in the museum and wanted to explore an interactive approach to learning. This project is a high-fidelity prototype of an adventure game app on a smartphone that is only usable on-site.
The project intends to offer the audience a guided exploration of the museum in which the player can reward themselves with the discovery of specific objects and their significance. With the use of augmented reality, the player can interact with the objects intimately.
The player is prompted to use specific clues related to the object’s description or its relationship to the exhibition, with the aim to locate them within the museum.
02 DEFINING THE PROBLEM
Keeping children engaged at museums is difficult when their primary method of learning is through their sense of touch. How can we make the experience more immersive and allow children to interact with the objects in a fun way?

03 TARGET AUDIENCE AND MARKET RESEARCH
The game is targeted towards young adults and children between the age of 10-18. They are more open to learning through immersive interactions that provide a playful environment.
